This organic coffee farm has been in the family for a long time. Vicentina from a young age was

surrounded by coffee and as she grew older took on more responsibility. In this region there

has been much external support for coffee producers. There have been various government

projects as well as technical assistance from local cooperatives. However, in the past the main

focus was on productivity with little thought about quality. Now, with new market opportunities

Vicentina is focusing more on quality.

Looking after the environment is very important for Vicentina, her farm forms part of her family

and it is an important part of their identity. This is why she chooses to only carry out organic

processes. She is also interested in Biodynamic farming practices and has done some

experiments, including only harvesting during certain lunar cycles. Doing this she believes add

to the quality of what she produces, and she is keen to keep learning more and carrying out

trials.

In the short term Vicentina wants to have a soil analysis carried out as she still doesn’t know

what conditions her trees are growing in. She would love roasters to visit her as she wants to

understand more about what makes her coffee great for them
