Ethiopia Yirgacheffe - Gedeb Worka / Espresso

from 24.00

The Worka Cooperative in Worka operates the Halo Fafate Washing Station in Yirgacheffe, which serves around 900 smallholder farmers in the area. Coffee is typically grown on small garden-size plots and is used to supplement a family's income in addition to being grown for personal use. At this washing station, coffee is delivered in cherry form, and it is depulped and bulked the same day into tanks of water, where it ferments for 24–48 hours, depending on the weather. It is then washed and spread on raised beds to dry, which takes 10–12 days. At this washing station, coffees are separated into "lots" that are 150 bags of parchment coffee each.
